Marjorie Ward, Edith Harris, the Queensland Quilters Inc and The Village at Yeronga
CKSN would like to send a huge thank you to Marjorie Ward and Edith Harris for raising funds to purchase 3 iPads for our Kidney Kids.
Marj and Edie are both undergoing Haemodialysis at the Henry Dalziel VC Dialysis Centre at the Greenslopes Hospital and after Marj read an article about CKSN in the Kidney Support Network’s newsletter she and Edie set out to raise funds for our Kidney Kids.
Marj is an enthusiastic quilter and when she attended her next Queensland Quilters Inc Meeting she spoke about CKSN and raised $595 on that
day!Since then we have received more donations and in total the very generous ladies of the Queensland Quilters have donated $700 to CKSN, as well as a beautiful quilt for us to use as a raffle prize.
Meanwhile, Edie was busily raising funds at her retirement village, The Village at Yeronga, and through her friends and family.
Altogether Marj and Edie raised enough money to purchase 3 iPads for our Kidney Kids plus more funds for our programs!
These iPads will be used by children when they are undergoing Haemodialysis, as well as those visited by a CKSN Volunteer when they are admitted to hospital.
We are so very grateful for all this wonderful support, generosity and kindness.
Many thanks to Marj and your husband Graeme, Edie and your husband Roy, and the very generous ladies at the Queensland Quilters Inc and the residents and staff at The Village at Yeronga, the patients at the Greenslopes Hospital Dialysis Unit and the many others for your support – you are truly our Kidney Kids Heroes!

CKSN had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Boronia Heights State School yesterday.
The children donated the funds raised on their Free Dress Day to help CKSN’s Kidney Kids. Over $450 was raised!
It was an honour to be part of their assembly and to talk to them about children who have kidney disease and to be presented with our cheque by the School Captain.
Denise Maloney, CKSN’s Young Ambassador and Mentor, spoke about her ‘kidney journey’ and CKSN Volunteers Lyndal and Andréa, who have also had a kidney transplant, had the kids all excited with Simon Says and ‘Where are your kidneys?’ Games and a short talk about kidney disease.
We were very impressed with the children and the many wonderful projects and accomplishments they and their great school have achieved. CKSN presented the school with a Certificate of Appreciation.
A huge thank you to the children and staff of the Boronia Heights State School – our Kidney Kids Hero – you should be extremely proud of yourselves – we certainly are!
